President Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked National Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence
Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the family of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.
He added that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Tragic Event
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.
White House Call
The president explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump addressed reporters. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”
Community Reaction
Community members assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that instructors desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to support those in need.”
Funeral details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Steps and Government Revisions
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The incident prompted the administration to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop providing entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey said on television.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with his relatives.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the military.
“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had courage,” he told the audience at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
