Donald Donald Trump has announced he is raising import taxes on items brought in from Canada after the province of Ontario aired an anti-import tax advertisement featuring late President Ronald Reagan.

In a Truth Social message on Saturday, Trump labeled the advert a "deception" and criticized Canada's officials for not pulling it ahead of the World Series.

"Owing to their major falsification of the facts, and unfriendly action, I am raising the duty on Canada by 10 percent over and above what they are currently paying now," Trump posted.

After Trump on last Thursday ended commercial discussions with Canadian officials, the Ontario's leader said he would remove the commercial.

The Province Position

Ontario Leader Doug Ford said on Friday that he would suspend his territory's anti-tariff commercial series in the US, informing the media that he chose after consultations with PM the Canadian PM "to ensure trade talks can resume".

He also said it would still run during the weekend, featuring matches for the baseball championship, which involves the Toronto team against the LA team.

Economic Situation

The Canadian nation is the exclusive G7 nation that has not reached a agreement with the America since Trump commenced seeking to impose steep duties on goods from key trade partners.

The America has previously imposed a 35 percent levy on all Canada's goods - though the majority are free under an existing trade deal. It has furthermore imposed industry-specific duties on Canadian items, including a 50 percent duty on metals and 25% on automobiles.

In his update, published while he was traveling to Southeast Asia, Trump indicated he was including an additional 10% to the existing tariffs.

Seventy-five percent of Canadian overseas sales are sent to the America, and Ontario is home to the majority of Canadian automobile manufacturing.

Ronald Reagan Ad Particulars

The advertisement, which was paid for by the provincial government, references late President Ronald Reagan, a Republican and symbol of American conservatism, remarking tariffs "harm every American".

The commercial takes excerpts from a 1987-era broadcast that addressed international trade.

The Foundation, which is tasked with maintaining the late president's memory, had condemned the commercial for using "edited" recordings and claimed it misrepresented the former president's address. It further noted the provincial government had not requested consent to use it.

Ongoing Disputes

In his update on social media on the weekend, Donald Trump stated that the advertisement should have been pulled down earlier.

"The Advertisement was to be pulled AT ONCE, but they let it run recently during the baseball championship, aware that it was a FRAUD," he posted, while traveling to Malaysia.

the Premier had earlier promised to air the Ronald Reagan commercial in each Republican area in the America.

Both Donald Trump and Mark Carney will be attending the Southeast Asian summit in Southeast Asia, but Donald Trump informed journalists joining him on the presidential plane that he does not have any "desire" of conferring with his Canadian counterpart during the visit.

In his update, Trump also claimed the Canadian government of seeking to influence an upcoming US Supreme Court lawsuit which could terminate his entire tax system.

The legal matter, to be reviewed by the highest US court soon, will decide whether the import taxes are constitutional.

On last Thursday, Donald Trump also condemned, stating that the commercial was intended to "tamper" with "a crucial lawsuit"

Baseball Championship Connection

The Reagan commercial is not the only way that the province – base of the Toronto Blue Jays – is using the MLB finals as a platform to criticize Trump's tariffs.

In a video posted on Friday, the Premier and California Governor the Governor playfully agreed on stakes about which side would triumph the championship.

Each official consistently teased about tariffs in the video, with Doug Ford promising to deliver Newsom a tin of syrup if the LA Dodgers succeed.

"The tariff might charge me a additional dollars at the border nowadays, but it'll be justified," he wrote.

In reply, Governor Newsom suggested Doug Ford to restart permitting US-made alcohol to be sold in Ontario liquor stores, and vowed to deliver "California's premium grape drink" if the Blue Jays triumph.

They concluded their exchange together stating: "Cheers to a great MLB finals, and a duty-free alliance between Ontario and California."
